Punishment Options - Revisit the "seperate" system

If you were sent to prison, would you rather be in contact with other prisoners, or separate from them ?

Which experience would be better for our society ?

The purposes of punishment are retribution ( = justice = revenge), deterrence, rehabilitation, and incapacitation.

People argue against imprisonment as a form of punishment because current prisons almost all fail on rehabilitation.

Prisons fail to rehabilitate most prisoners because of the influence (ie speech and action ie threat, coercion, violence, etc etc) of other prisoners.

On a balance of evils, the “separate system” delivered superior outcomes on all objectives.

A modern implementation would not be completely “solitary” in that there would be healthy contact with non prisoners. It would be “separate” from prisoner contact.
