You call it a fairy tale, but it also has elements of myth. Shared myth is one of the foundations of culture. If we continually debunk and destroy them by subjection to rational analysis, we become more alone - good only for the very strong or the very compliant.
Diana's myth seemed to have elements of:
* the meek shall inherit the earth. A shy kindergarten teacher expects little but gains the world.
* Its nice to be important, but its more important to be nice. A princess with genuine concern and interest in every single individual in the whole world.
........And many more.
There are also elements of less socially positive myths:
* Beautiful, passive, ornamental bodies gain rewards far, far above clever, ambitious, interesting minds.
* Leadership is a birthright, regardless of ability.
........And many more.
